LARES Digital Processing Mainframe


LARES MainframeLARES utilizes a variant of Lexicon's premier digital signal processing system as its hardware platform. Its daily use in thousands of the worlds' most advanced production studios, recording facilities, and touring sound companies is a testament to its time proven reliability and exceptional audio quality.

The LARES mainframe features modular construction with front panel access to all key components. System DSP, host CPU, and firmware are integrated on independent circuit boards that can be removed and replaced without the need to remove the mainframe from a rack enclosure. Audio performance is exemplary with 18 bit Analog to Digital conversion, signal to noise in excess of 98 dB, and analog gain to +28 dBm (input) and +24 dBm (output). Inputs and outputs terminate using XLR connectors, and are electronically balanced. The system programmer communicates over 1000' distances using RS-422 protocol, and terminates via a dB-9 connector. MIDI, independent RS-422 communication ports, and digital audio I/O are also provided.
